In Loving Memory
CLYDE — Jeanne Marion Sommer DeGrasse, 65, of Haywood County and a former resident of Florida, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Mountain Trace Nursing Center, in Sylva.
Mrs. DeGrasse was born July 18, 1947, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late Robert Sommer and the late Irene N. Sommer. She resided most of her life in Florida, before making Haywood County her home for the past 15 years. Mrs. DeGrasse was a former employee of Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Florida and also was a former employee of Belk department store in Waynesville. She attended New Covenant Church in Clyde. Jeanne deeply loved her family and was a devoted mother, who had proudly home schooled her children. Her memory shall be cherished by family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Dennis DeGrasse; sons, Nathan DeGrasse, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Andrew DeGrasse, and his wife, Sharon DeGrasse, of the Crabtree community; grandchildren, Judah and Emma DeGrasse; sisters, Candy Bridges, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Susan Skolrood, of Roanoke, Virginia; and a brother, Tommy Sommer of Greer, South Carolina.
A memorial service for Mrs. DeGrasse will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at New Covenant Church in Clyde.
