CANTON — Jennie Chambers Burnette, 88, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late William Weston and Sally Blaylock Chambers.  She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Fulton Burnett, who died in 2008; six brothers, Baxter, Burlin, Edwin, Marshall, George and Lush Chambers; and a sister, Evelyn Almeta McDuffie.  Jennie committed her life to Jesus at an early age and lived her life as an example of her faith and trust in Christ.  She never grew tired of hearing the gospel message and read her Bible daily.  She was an animal lover, especially dogs, cats, and birds, and rescued numerous animals over the years.
