WAYNESVILLE — Jerry David Ray, 72, passed away at the Brian Center Waynesville Jan. 6, 2013.

Jerry was born August 4, 1940, to the late Thomas Roland Ray and the late Anna Dee Birchfield Ray, the 11th of 14 children. Jerry shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Phyllis Clara Underwood Ray.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two children, Kellie Ray Rogers (Rev. Marvin Rogers), and Jeffrey Allan Ray (Anita Ray); three grandchildren, Christopher Shawn Rogers, Ambria Rogers Smith and Heather Ray Long; and five great-grandchildren.

Jerry was a master carpenter having built many homes and businesses in Haywood County along with making beautiful furniture for his family. He was loved by all who knew him. Jerry had such a gentle touch in all he did in life. He ...
