Jerry M. Spearman
CLOVER, SOUTH CAROLINA — Jerry Miller Spearman, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, April 7, 2014. She experienced a peaceful passing at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, South Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Jerry, daughter of the late Jerry Morris and Ruth Massey Miller, was born in Haywood County Aug. 7, 1929. She was a graduate of Gastonia High School. Much of her life was dedicated to and revolved around her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
After more than 25 years of service with Homelite Corporation of Gastonia, Jerry retired in 1991 and dedicated her time to her family and her home. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and cheering on her beloved Atlanta Braves.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Marvin Donald Spearman, of the home, and their four children, Sheila Jane Chapman of Charlotte, Kim Morris Spearman, and his wife, Kimberly, of Gastonia, Donald Alan Spearman, and his wife, Jan, of Clover, South Carolina, and Lisa Spearman Moore, and her husband, Alan, of Gastonia; brother, James Morris Miller, of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother-in-law, J.D. Clemmer, of Dallas, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Parrish Turner and Hailey Spearman, both of Gastonia; and one great-grandchild.
Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey Douglas and Ronald Morgan Miller; a sister, Barbara Miller Clemmer; a son, Billy Michael Chapman; and a grandson, Donald Alan Spearman Jr.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, at M. L. Ford & Sons, in Clover, South Carolina. Jerry will be laid to rest at Woodside Cemetery after a private service led by the Rev. Billy Ginn, Friday, April 11.
