CLYDE — Jody Lee Southerland, 32, of Chambers Mountain Road, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
Jody was born July 20, 1981 in Haywood County and was a 1999 graduate of Pisgah High School. He was employed by Roc-N-Soc in Waynesville. Jody was an avid fisherman and he was blessed with a wonderful fun-loving personality. He will always be remembered as a truly good guy and everyone who knew Jody loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Lee Southerland.
Surviving are his mother, Patsy Phillips Southerland of Clyde; his fiancee’, Desi Griffith of Waynesville; paternal grandparents, Jake and Ruth Justice of Waynesville; and maternal grandmother, Jeanette Phillips of Waynesville.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. Pastor Matthew Pressley will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park, Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Jake Mills, Daniel Bradley, Travis Lance, Jason Phillips, Ray Southerland, Cody Southerland, Charles Putnam and Michael Haney.
