Joey's Pancake house closing early

Dean's Haywood Cafe has also closed down temporarily.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Joey’s Pancake House in Maggie Valley will be closing Feb. 5 and will remain closed until April 5.

The restaurant typically closes between President’s Day and the first part of April, but boiler problems prompted an earlier closing, said Teresa Smith, director of the Maggie Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Joey’s is expected to reopen on April 5.

Another popular local restaurant recently closed its doors, too. Dean's Haywood Cafe on Crabtree Road in Waynesville is a regular stop for many locals.

On Tuesday, the restaurant's Facebook page said, "We regret to say that the State Dept. of Revenue has temporarily closed the cafe. We are doing everything we can to reopen. We will be meeting with all the proper channels over the next couple of days and will keep everyone up on our progress. Would like to thank all of you for your support and prayers...will let you know as we do."

An update to the page Wednesday said the owners met with attorneys and other contacts and must wait to hear from authorities at the department of revenue.
