John 'Johnny' M. McClarrin
Loving husband, father
CANTON — John “Johnny” M. McClarrin, 60, of Dutch Cove Road, entered into his Heavenly home Wednesday, June 26, 2013.
Johnny was born April 14, 1953, to the late John McClarrin and the late Corrine Sims McClarrin. He had made his home in Haywood County most of his life and was a veteran and corporal in the U.S. Marines.
Johnny was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He had been employed with Champion International and Evergreen Packaging since 1975 and had been a dedicated employee with 38 years of service. Johnny could often be found listening to music or watching all types of sports. He was indeed a wonderful cook and his barbecued ribs and everything he prepared on his “smoker grill” was enjoyed by family and guests at the McClarrin home. Johnny loved his family deeply and his precious memory shall be forever held in the hearts of each of them forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Brenda Thomas, Peggy McClarrin and Kathy Malcom; two nieces; and his aunt and uncle, Rosie and Sam McClarrin, who loved and raised Johnny as their own and were just like another mother and father to him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Claudia Howell McClarrin of Canton; daughters, Nodia McClarrin of Waynesville and Candace Cullins of Waynesville; sisters, Mary Harris of Atlanta, Sandra McClarrin of Charlotte, Theresa Johnson and her husband, Calvin Johnson, of North Wilksboro and Judith Shepherd and her husband, Vince Shepherd, of Frostproof, Florida; his mother-in-law, Barbara Howell, of Canton, who he truly loved just like a mother; his sister-in-laws, Claudette Coleman and Joanna Howell, both of Canton; brother-in-laws, Stanley Thomas and Keith Howell, both of Canton; an aunt, Ethel Young, of Asheville; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins that loved Johnny dearly.
The McClarrin family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of MedWest Hospice, The Homestead and also to Dr. Michael Pass for their love and care given to Johnny and our family.
The funeral service will be held at noon Monday, July 1, 2013, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert Williams will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 am to noon prior to the funeral service. Burial with military honors will be in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde.
At other times, the family will be at the home of Barbara Howell, 58 Reynolds School Road in Canton.
Crawford/Ray Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the McClarrin family and words of comfort may be shared at www.crawfordray.com.
