John Laughter joins jeweler board
John Laughter, owner of John Laughter Jewelry in Asheville and Waynesville, was chosen from 850 other jewelers to serve on the board of directors of the Independent Jewelers Organization.
According to a press release, IJO is the world's largest jewelry buying group and enables members to buy at group savings and pass the savings onto its customers. The organization also provides the latest education and information on product knowledge, techniques, trends and styles to its members.
"John was chosen from among 850 retail jeweler members, which really reveals a lot about his leadership abilities, and the confidence the membership as a whole has in him," said IJO President/CEO Jeff Roberts, in a press release. "I'm excited to be working with John, as is the rest of the board."
The board position is to act as a liaison between the membership and IJO management and help with ideas for the betterment of the overall operation of IJO.
"Being associated with IJO represents integrity, quality and trust, and I'm proud to be able to give back to this organization that has helped my business in so many ways," Laughter said. "I look forward to serving my fellow members any way I can over the next three years."
Penny Palmer, IJO director of member services, said Laughter would be a great asset to the board.
"He's been an active, supportive and contributing member of this organization since the moment he joined five years ago, after being associated with IJO for more than 25 years previously, and we are privileged to have his input," she said in a press release.
