Loving Husband

WAYNESVILLE —  Joseph “Joe” Horner Jr., 63, of 163 Burgess Loop, passed away  Thursday, July 19, 2012, at his residence.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, he had resided in Forest Hill, Maryland, before moving to Haywood County in 2010.  He was the son of the late Joseph and Rita May Klein Horner.  He was employed as a cable splicer for 34 years with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone  Company and a veteran of the Air National Guard.  Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, riding and traveling the country on his Harley, and collecting and shooting firearms.

He is survived by  his wife of six years, Barbara Rowe Horner; three daughters, Tori Horner, of York, Pennsylvania, Melissa McCallister and Susan Blake, and her husband, John, all of Forest Hill, Maryland; one sister, Carol Schlatre, and her husband, Steven, of Knoxville, Tennessee; one brother, Dennis Horner, and his wife, Joan, of Joppa, Maryland; two grandchildren, Samantha McCallister and Lucas Blake; his mother-in-law, Audrey Rowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 21,  at the home of the family.
