So Deeply Loved

CLYDE — Let us rejoice and give thanks for the wonderful life of Mildred Josie Bullard Henson. During the peaceful afternoon of Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, she was called to her eternal heavenly home to be united with her Lord and Saviour and her loving family.

Mrs. Henson was born Jan. 30, 1935, and was blessed with 82 years of a wonderful life. She was a native of Wilmington, NC, and had resided in Savannah, Georgia, before making her home in Haywood County in 1971. She was the daughter of the late Wade Arthur Bullard and the late Mildred Wright Anderson Bullard.

To know Josie was to love her. She attended South Georgia College, where she was a member of the Glee Club and her beautiful voice was indeed a blessed gift. Mrs. Henson was a lady of many talents. She was a gifted artisan who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, working with stained glass and she had a great love for all art. Josie also enjoyed spending time outdoors, loved to fish and work puzzles in her spare time.

Mrs. Henson was a member of Waynesville First Baptist Church. The Henson family will forever cherish the memory of their loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a dear lady who shall never ever be forgotten.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James McKay Henson, who passed away in 2016; a daughter, Connie Henson Moore; a brother, Wade A Bullard, a son-in-law, David Ray Gunter Sr. and brother-in-law, Raymond Lee Denney.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Betsy F. Gunter of Canton;  Robert W. Farrow and  his partner, Phil Anderson of Prosperity, SC, Christopher Blake Henson of Canton, James M. Henson, Jr. of Canton and Sharon Henson Laney of Candler; grandchildren, Bryan McKay Gunter and his wife, Jasmine Gunter, Emily Anderson, Parker Anderson, David Gunter, Jr., Dwight Gunter, Michael Henson and his wife Tracy Henson, Michele Henson, Chris Laney and his wife, Lisa Laney, Steven Laney and his wife, Virginia Laney and Bryan Moore and his wife, Lynn Moore;  eleven great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy B. Denney and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. The Rev. Dr. Robert Prince will be officiating. Entombment will follow at The Horizon Mausoleum at Crawford / Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be Neal Swanger, Richard Swanger, Sherrill Gillette, Mike Henson, David Gunter and Dwight Gunter.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior at the funeral home.
