SYLVA — Joyce W. Turner, 81, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, in Sylva.

Joyce was born May 15, 1931, in Nashville to Nora and Maynard Wheeler.  She was a mother and homemaker who dedicate her life to her family.  She was creative and artistic; playing piano, painting, calligraphy and decoupage.  She sang in and accompanied many church choirs.  She was also the Southern Baptist Association Library Director in Tennessee, Michigan and Florida, starting libraries in many churches all over those states. Later in life she graduated from Barnum & Bailey Clown College in Florida and Candy the Clown was born.  Candy played in many churches and other functions for her husband’s business.
