Junaluskans 'Live and Learn' with Upchurch to be Feb. 21
This is Lake Junaluska's centennial year, and in keeping with providing opportunities to celebrate the past, the "Live and Learn" Committee of the Junaluskans is sponsoring a program at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Bethea Welcome Center titled, "Haywood County Around 100 Years Ago, According to Ernestine."
Ernestine Upchurch, whose Maggie Valley lineage can be traced to 1790, is well-known in the area for her expertise in local history and is excited to share with her audience what her research has revealed. Along with her commentary, she will show pictures of the county that capture the era of the early 20th century.
This presentation is open to the public. Come early and partake of the refreshments, then settle in to enjoy an hour to discover that history, especially the local variety, is Upchurch'sdelight and forte. For directions, call 452-7802.
