CANTON — Kenneth Paul Best, 80, of the Beaverdam Community passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Carl and Estella Worley Best. He was also preceded in death by a brother, J. R. Best.
He was dedicated to his work as a self employed farmer and builder. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman and especially loved coon hunting. He will be remembered as being a kind-hearted and gentle soul who loved and adored each member of his family. He was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy Scott Best; a son, Daniel Best, and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Regina Carver, all of Canton; a brother, Carroll Best, and his wife, Lucy, of Canton; three sisters, Marie Byers, and her husband, Joe, of Clyde, Bobbie King, and her husband, Doyle, of Canton, and Frances Cook ,and her husband, Bill, of Canton; four grandchildren, Nathan Best, and his wife, Shannon, Jacob Carver, Kendra Carver and Chance Best; two great-grandchildren, Colton and Lathin Best; and many nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 17, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Scott officiating and Gene Worley assisting. Burial will follow at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
