Kiwanis donate backpacks to students

Students in need at Clyde Elementary School and Jonathan Valley Elementary School will be able to start school with the supplies they lack thanks to the Kiwanis Club of Waynesville’s “Backpack Project.” Club members individually donated backpacks and supplies.

Each backpack was filled with grade level school supplies at a “backpack stuffing party” following the regular meeting.  The backpacks were delivered to both schools.

“I wish you could see the look of joy on the children’s faces when they get their backpacks,” said Dr. Pam Justice, principal of Clyde Elementary School.

This is just one of the club’s projects and grants that benefit the Haywood County students.

Next up will be the Club’s “Dictionary Project.”  In early September, club members will be visiting every third grade class ...
