Kiwanis serves barbecue in annual fundraiser Oct. 5

Autumn means many things in the mountains.  One beginning-of-fall event that people in Waynesville have counted on for 48 years running is the Kiwanis barbecue fundraiser.

The Waynesville Kiwanis Annual Barbeque, held Oct. 5, will raise money for children and families in Haywood County. The main venue will be the Waynesville Recreation Center.  There will also be a satellite site on Main Street at the parking lot across from First Baptist Church.

Tickets bought in advance from club members or purchased on-the-spot between 11:30 and 6 p.m. are $10 and can be traded for a meal of Big Mountain pork barbeque, baked beans, cole slaw, roll, dessert and a soft drink.
