Lake Junaluska Beautification Day a success
Earlier this week, more than 60 volunteers gathered to help beautify Lake Junaluska.
Volunteers planted around 120 plants, picked up 45 bags of trash, cleaned 40 signs and painted 592 feet of guard rail.
“We are so thankful to everyone who came out to make a difference for our community,” said Rachel Watkins, who organized the event. “It was incredible to see Lake Junaluska staff and community volunteers coming together to make such a big impact.”
The lake beautification day was made possible in partnership with Lake Junaluska and the Junaluskans, a service group based at the lake that does projects throughout the year.
“We love the lake, and it makes us sad to see the trash that gathers here,” said Ruth Sterry, who lives at LakeJunaluska. She helped pick up trash along South Lakeshore Drive with her husband, Scott. “We want to do anything we can to help the place we love.”
Lake Junaluska is a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind, and body.
