Lake Junaluska Summer Worship Series continues with Rev. Dr. Joy Moore
The Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center Summer Worship Series will continue on Sunday, July 15, 2012. The Rev. Dr. Joy J. Moore, Associate Dean for Black Church Studies and Church Relations and visiting professor, Homiletics and the Practice of Ministry at Duke Divinity School will be our guest preacher.
An ordained elder in the United Methodist Church West Michigan Conference, Dr. Moore is frequently the featured preacher, Bible study leader and teacher at workshops, conferences, and worship services around the country. Moore is currently researching the impact of various media forms on how we assimilate information and what it does to our religious imagination. She is known for loving to tell stories with a theological twist. Moore comes to Lake Junaluska in partnership with the Stockton Preaching Endowment.
Each Sunday through Aug. 12, three worship services are planned as part of the Summer Worship Series: a service of Word and Table at 8:30 a.m. in Memorial Chapel, a Praise and Prayer Service at the Lake Junaluska Cross Amphitheater at 9:30 a.m., and at 10:45 a.m., Morning Worship at Stuart Auditorium featuring a variety of well-known preachers from across the country. The Lake Junaluska Singers provide special music during the 10:45 service at Stuart.
