CANTON — Everett Lane Cochran, 79, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Mission Hospitals-Memorial Campus.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Dan and Ila Woody Cochran. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Pansy Blalock and Jean Lanning; and two brothers, Howard and Chester Cochran. He retired from Champion International, with 36 years of service. Lane enjoyed walking his dogs and working crossword puzzles.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise Pinkerton Cochran; a daughter, Phyllis Davis, and her husband, James, of Marion; three sons, Gary Cochran, and his wife, Cathy, of Canton, Tim Cochran, of Waynesville, and Joe Cochran, and his wife, Mary Beth, of Canton; a sister, Eva Nell Sanford, of Wilmington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow at Center Pigeon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
