Laurel Ridge CC donates to Sarge's
Who let the dogs out??? If you heard howling and barking on the Fourth of July, it was probably coming from our 2nd annual Dog Show. Our Pavilion was packed with spectators and canines, the latter prancing and showing their stuff, vying for votes for the Best of Show prize. Congratulations to Casey Hines, a young Cavachon belonging to Tom & Carolyn Hines, for winning the top prize. Casey also won the Pet/Owner Look Alike Contest. The Hines won an original oil painting of Casey graciously donated by LRCC member and artist, Dawn Plifka. Dawn's Shih Tzu, Saki, won "Most Patriotic"; "Best Tail Wagger" went to Finnegan, a border collie owned by Kevin Cronin; and "Best Trick" went to Paddy, a german-speaking German Shepherd! Over $700 was raised during the event that included a Silent Auction and all proceeds will benefit SARGES Animal Rescue.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make our July 4th Dog Show a success! Local businesses and individuals contributing to the cause were: Animal Magnetism & Doggie Daycare, Maple Tree Vet, Junaluska Animal Hospital, Robin Blu Gift Shop, Frog's Leap Public House, Therapeutic Massage, PetSmart, Ed McHugh, Steve Lampl, Wendy Lang (Fitness Instructor), Duane Page (Golf Pro) and Dylan Jicha (Tennis Pro)
Besides the Dog Show, the day's activities included a golf scramble and barbecue. The celebration began with the singing of the National Anthem, a prayer and also included recognition of LRCC's service men and women.
