Learn about natural pest control on April 6

By Haywood County Library | Mar 17, 2017

CANTON — Learn about natural pest control at a free class at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Canton library, 11 Pennsylvania Ave.

Haywood Extension agent Sarah Scott, home and commercial horticulture specialist and Master Gardner, will share safe and efficient ways to control pests in your garden.

One method for controlling pests in the garden is to encourage beneficial insects and pest predators such as bats, birds, lizards, spiders and toads.

Another method is use natural insecticides. The insecticides are derived from naturally occurring materials, break down quickly, are not absorbed by plants, and are less likely to impact honeybees and other beneficial insects.

This is a Giving Garden program. For more information on the natural pest control class or the Giving Garden, call the Canton Library at 648-2924.
