Learn from the 'Fat Bee Man'

Haywood County Beekeepers Association and Haywood County Extension Center have invited “The Fat Bee Man,” Don Kuchenmeister, to speak at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at Haywood Community College Auditorium. Kuchenmeister has presented many beekeeping workshops, videos and classes, and owns Dixie Bee Supplies.

Located in Lula, Georgia, Kuchenmeister has more than 50 years of experience as a beekeeper and 30 years as a commercial beekeeper. His operation has been pesticide free and 100 percent organically maintained since 1993. Kuchenmeister has given bee-related presentations and organic beekeeping workshops and classes for many years. His beekeeping business sells queens, packaged bees, honey and other bee-related products directly to friends, neighbors and the community.

The suggested donation is $5 per person for visitors. The event is free for paid 2013 HCBC members. For information, contact Kathy Taylor at 279-5614.
