Learn to grow vegetables April 15
The Buncombe County Extension Master Gardener Volunteers (EMGs) will offer a free program called “Grow Your Own Fresh Vegetables” at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the N.C. Cooperative Extension offices, 94 Coxe Ave.
This talk is the third in the popular “Gardening in the Mountains” monthly series. Join Mike Arnott, Extension master gardener volunteer and avid vegetable grower, as he shares the "ins and outs" of learning to grow fresh vegetables. Topics include selecting the right location for the garden, soil characteristics and amendments, a few favorite vegetables for area, what varieties to grow and weed and pest/disease control.
The talk is free, but pre-registration is requested. Call the Extension at 255-5522 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Indicate which time slot you will be attending. Free parking is available in the lot across on the street on the corner of Coxe and Hilliard avenues.
Additional lectures in the "Gardening in the Mountains" series will cover a variety of garden topics. They will be held on the third Tuesday of each month through October.
