Lee Starnes, State Farm Insurance has been honored with Haywood County Chamber of Commerce’s May Business of the Month Award. Presented by the Economic and Business Development Committee the purpose of the award is to recognize our community businesses who contribute to our communities through charity, good customer service, job creation, and making Haywood County a better place to live.

Lee Starnes joined State Farm Insurance in 1984 and has seen 28 years of steady growth. Armed with a mission to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected and realize their dreams; State Farm offers a wealth of insurance and financial products to meet the needs of their clients.

According to Starnes, “Over the years, regardless of the accolades, awards and business incentives, we have built our business on community involvement and friendly, courteous and professional service.”

Starnes is a Legion of Honor qualifier, a member of the Chairman Circle and has received the Golden Triangle designation for State Farm Insurance. He has also been recognized as a Hometown Hero, served as past president of the Haywood Rotary Club, Haywood County Schools Foundation board and the 2010 Grand Marshall of the Haywood County Christmas Parade. Starnes is currently the President of the Haywood County Historical and Genealogical Society, a board member of the Waynesville Recreation Center, supporter of Folkmoot International, and other organizations.
