Rapp’s views distorted
To the editor:
It has been brought to my attention that people are getting calls in certain areas of the county saying that Representative Ray Rapp stands for same sex marriage. I asked him for an answer to this aligation and here is his response:
“Perhaps nothing is more malicious or unkind than the charge that I am in favor of same sex marriage. I voted against the proposal to put it on the May primary ballot because we have a law banning same sex marriage in this state.
The ban was the law before the vote on a constitutional amendment and it remained the law the day after the referendum in May. Nothing changed.
Nevertheless, public attention was focused on the vote. While it stirred passions and publicity and gave opponents of same sex marriage a bump in the ...
