WAYNESVILLE — Lillie Rathbone, age 89, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Smoky Mountain Health & Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Mila Messer Rathbone.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters. Lillie was a wonderful homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, caring for her chickens and was a member of Hemphill Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister, Frankie Phillips, of Waynesville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 30 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Worley and Pastor Jake Cagle officiating.  Burial will follow at Sugar Cove Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. Sunday at the ...
