Loving Wife, Mother

CANTON — Linda Gail Blazer Allison, 62, of Canton, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012.

Linda was born March 12, 1949, in Haywood County to the late Walter A. Blazer and the late Viola Wiley Blazer Caton.  She had made her home in Haywood County all of her life and had been a dedicated employee of 35 years with Canton Savings and Loan and RBC Centura in Canton. Linda retired as bank manager of RBC Centura, Canton and she had received numerous awards for her years of service to the bank and our community. As a founding member of FOCUS on Greater Canton, Linda's energy and her strong desire to help promote her hometown was evident to everyone she met. Her caring and giving heart also led Linda to help establish Canton's Community Kitchen where she served as a charter member of the board of directors and her continued unconditional support was an integral part of The Community Kitchen's success as a food ministry.  She was a member of the Smoky Mountain Basket Weavers Guild and was also a gifted quilter — Linda's talents were endless. When entering a room her radiant smile and her wonderful personality touched everyone and she truly had the gift to make everyone feel special.  Linda was a loving wife and mother, a devoted friend and an inspiration to each of us to give of ourselves to make this a better world.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Noel A. Blazer.

Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Scott Allison of Canton; her children, John Allison, of Canton, and Janna Allison, and her husband, Daryl Kuykendall, of Canton; special lifelong friends, "Choppy" Reeves, Retha Pace and JoAnn Greene; several nieces and nephews and also "Bailey" and "Sebastian," her special dogs.

To honor Linda's request there will be no formal funeral services held. It was her wish that each friend or family member honor her by volunteering their time at The Community Kitchen in Canton or to another service organization of one's choice.  In lieu of flowers her request were donations be made to the Community Kitchen, 98 Pisgah Drive,  Canton, NC 28716
