1952 — 2014
WAYNESVILLE — Our beloved Linda Diane Bowen, 61, entered into the presence of the Lord Sunday, March 2. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, and in 1963 moved to Waynesville, her parents’ hometown. Linda graduated from Tuscola High School in 1971. After receiving her CNA certificate from Haywood Tech, she worked at Haywood County Hospital as a nursing assistant, then as an assistant in the X-ray lab until she retired in 2002.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas F. and Martha Ferguson Bowen. She is survived by her son, Mark Grasty, who was her special caregiver; and grandchildren Patra Grasty and Louis Constante. Other survivors include her brother, Doug Bowen, his wife, Jan; and nephews, Paul and Andrew Bowen and his wife, Sarah; her uncle, Benny Bowen; and several aunts and many close cousins.
Linda dearly loved being a member of Pinnacle Church. She had a servant's heart and was faithful in meeting with the weekly prayer group and helping at the community kitchen. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, vacationing in Myrtle Beach and in recent years getting together for special “cousins weekends.”
Linda was an inspiration to all who knew her. Throughout her life, though she had many serious illnesses, she never complained. She always believed that God was in control.
A celebration of life memorial service, officiated by pastors Heath Davis and Patrick Womack, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Pinnacle Church, 101 Fibreville Main St. in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pinnacle Church or the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, 795 Gatewood Road NE, Atlanta, GA, 30329.
