Linda Carol Moore Nye
CANTON — Linda Carol Moore Nye, 76, of Canton, died April 7, 2014, of complications of Lewy body dementia.
A Canton native, she was born June 2, 1938, the daughter of the late Dr. Roy H. and Irma Jones Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Nye Phillips, and a brother, William “Bill” Moore.
Linda is survived by two sons, Mark, of Canton, and Keith (Jill), of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Adam and Cassidy, also of Raleigh; a sister, Barbara Moore Pless, of North Wilkesboro; and several nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Canton High School and of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Linda was employed as director, department of physical therapy, at Haywood County Hospital and later by Haywood Rehabilitation.
A member of Central United Methodist Church of Canton, Linda enjoyed reading, music, her collection of original artwork, playing bridge and dancing, especially with the Appalachian Cloggers.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Central United Methodist Church, Canton. Family members will be available in the church vestibule following the service.
The family would like to thank her former companion, Bill Anderson, and the staff at Long Leaf Neuro Medical Center in Wilson for keeping Linda safe.
