WAYNESVILLE — Lloyd Putnam,  91, of Big Cove Road, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Mird and Maggie Green Putnam and as a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.  Lloyd received the American Theater Service Medal, FAME Service Medal, and three Bronze Stars for his dedicated service for his country.  He was owner of the Balsam Road Men’s Shop and also worked at the Waynesville Bait Shop.  Lloyd loved the beauty of the mountains, flowers, and bird watching.  He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and solitaire.
