Local ‘Fab 5’ named to All-WNCAC girls team
It was another successful season for local girls basketball and the results showed with the release of the 2016-17 All-WNC Athletic Conference Girls Basketball Team last week.
Named to the first team from Pisgah were senior Maddie Webb, sophomore Emma Sorrells and freshman Lani Woods, Tuscola sophomores Shelby Glance and Cierra Jackson.
Webb has committed and soon will sign to play basketball for D-II Mars Hill University.
The conference’s player of the year was North Henderson’s Caroline Marsh and the coach of the year was Smoky Mountain’s Heather Kilpa.
The all-WNCAC selections were voted on by the head coaches.
Pisgah, which rostered seven freshman and started three of them, finished in a two-way tie for second with Franklin, while Tuscola finished fourth in the WNCAC standings.
