Local law enforcement officials experience 'Jail and Bail'

Haywood Community College Criminal Justice students in Lambda Eta Chi found a unique way to reverse the roles on local law enforcement leaders. Through a Jail and Bail fundraiser, the police chiefs of Canton and Waynesville, as well as the county’s new sheriff, were mock arrested, read a warrant, placed under bond, and thrown in jail until they raised their bail money.

The money came from donations in the community and resulted in $800 for the students to use to attend the American Criminal Justice Association National Conference later this month in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
