Lois Marie Franklin Harrell Irvin, 93, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation after a long period of declining health.

Mrs. Irvin was born in Converse, South Carolina on Aug. 22, 1920, but resided most of her life in Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late John Henry and Amanda Jane Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Guy James Harrell and Eugene Ray Irvin; two sons, Robert DeVoe Harrell and infant son Roger Dale Harrell; grandson Marc Williamson; eight brothers: Arvil, Britt, Dewey, Earl, Eugene (Red), Hobert, Neil, and Virgil Franklin; and three sisters: Ada Miller, Minnie Phillips and Nettie Rash. She was a member of the Cove Creek Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is one daughter, Katie Harrell Williamson and her husband, Tommy; granddaughter, Tammy Harrell Harris (John) of Waynesville; grandsons: John Harrell Williamson (Cindy) of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Robert D. Harrell of Waynesville; great-grandchildren: Jeremy Turner (Misty) of Clyde, Courtney Marie Harris of Waynesville, Josh Williamson of Waynesville; and Brett-Marie Williamson Brownley (Alex) of Fairfax, Virginia; great-great grandchildren, Madison, Hayden and Eli Turner; sister Katie Messer, sisters-in-law Pauline Harrell Best of Clyde and Louise Irvin of Concord; and a large number of much loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Dec. 30, 2013 in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Revs. Billy Ferguson and Tim Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery located at Cove Creek.

The family is thankful to the entire staff at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab for the wonderful care given and kindness shown to their loved one and to the family members.
