Love is in the air — Cats, dogs ready for spring fling

Sixty-six cats and dogs were returned from Humane Alliance Spay/Neuter Clinic to Haywood Spay/Neuter.  Thirty-five of the pets were females and 60 percent of them were either in heat or pregnant. That amounts to 21 unwanted litters of pups and kittens that won’t be added this year.

To all pet owners — has the family pet been fixed? If not, Haywood Spay/Neuter can help prevent those surprise litters.

The cost of spay/neuter surgery with rabies vaccination is $50 or $10 with proof of receiving public assistance.

Pets will get the health benefit of being spayed/neutered, and pet owners won't have to raise, feed and find homes for unexpected puppies or kittens.

Call 452-1329 or drop in between noon and 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday to register for low-cost spay/neuter.

Even if you have spayed or neutered your pet you can help Haywood Spay/Neuter continue to provide very low-cost surgery for the low-income pet owners.  1.  Give to Haywood Spay/Neuter, they are an IRS qualified 501(c)(3) charity, PO Box 992 Waynesville, NC  28786-0992, or securely on their website www.hawapets.org. 2. Buy the I-Care License plates when you renew your auto registration this year $20 of every plate sold goes into the NC Spay/Neuter Program which supports low-cost spay/neuter across the state.
