Loving Mother

WAYNESVILLE — Lovon Elizabeth Gunter Stiles, 89, of 156 Stiles Road, passed away Thursday, Aug.30, 2012 at MedWest-Haywood.

A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Delie Wykle Gunter and was also preceded in death by her husband, George C. Stiles, who died in 2001, as well as two sons, one sister, and two brothers.  She was a seamstress for Sylco, retiring at the age of 72, and enjoyed quilting and flower gardening.

She is survived by a son, Robert Stiles, and his wife, Peggy, of Waynesville; two daughters, Barbara Medford, and her husband, Roy Gene, and JoAnn Medford, also of Waynesville; one sister, Dessie Plott, of Georgia; four brothers, Doyle and Frankie Gunter, of Georgia, Arthur Gunter ,of Jackson County, and Thomas Gunter, of Waynesville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at Hyatt Creek Freewill Baptist Church, of which she was a member, with the Rev. Larry Coates officiating.  Burial will follow at Red Bank Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
