WAYNESVILLE — Lowery “Larry” Conard, 71, of Lariat Loop, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Jack and Lela Haney Conard and was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Jaynes Sr., and one brother, Jerry Conard. Larry was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and worked as a truck driver for 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and restoring antique cars.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Genevee Ledford Conard; one daughter, Mary Sue Franklin (Adam); two sons, Bobby Ray, of the home, and Dean Ray (Lorie); one brother, Buddy Conard; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Stiles officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military services conducted by VFW Post 5202 and American Legion 47. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Davis, David Whitlock, Adam Franklin, Bobby Maxwell, Dale Jaynes Jr. and Makhi Rogers. Bobby Ray will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior.
