Waynesville — LOVING MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER
WAYNESVILLE — Mrs. Lucille Edith Thorpe Phillips, 84, of Waynesville went to be with her Lord Saturday October 13, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Lela and Andy Thorpe. She was also preceded in death by her husband Bill Phillips; two infant children; brothers Hubert “Red” Barker, James Thorpe; and a sister Viola Thorpe Deitz.
A native of Sylva, she was retired from Wellco, enjoyed gardening, quilting, being a homemaker and spending winters in Florida. She was very involved in her church and was a Red Hatter.
Survivors include her sons Bob Phillips and his wife Diane of Waynesville; David Phillips and his wife Mary Ellen of Hogansville GA; grandchildren Karla Phillips, Billy Phillips, Heather Davis and her husband Byron; great-grandchildren Emiley and Jordan Davis; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Allen’s Creek Baptist Church, where she was an active member. Revs. Eddie Deitz and Jim Brackett will officiate. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Old Field Cemetery, Sylva. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and at other times will be at the home of Bob and Diane Phillips.
