Devotion to Family

WAYNESVILLE —  Lucy Smathers Summerrow, 95, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in New Port Richey, Florida.

Born in Canton, she was the daughter of the late Jodie Burton Smathers and Minnie Tate.  She was a native of Haywood County, where with her husband, Ralph Summerrow, they owned, operated and retired from Ralph’s Cash Grocery, in Hazelwood.  She was a member of Hazelwood Presbyterian Church, where she showed her endless love of children, in the nursery for 43 years.

She is survived by two grandchildren, Carey Lee Boissy, and her husband, Eugene Jr., of Hudson, Florida, James Kevin Slaughter, and his wife, Francie, of Charlotte, and three great-grandchildren Jordan Elizabeth Slaughter, Landry Richard Boissy and Lindsey Tate Boissy.
