‘M&M Girls’ named to 2-A all-state team
CANTON — Two Pisgah High School sluggers recently earned all-state softball honors last week.
Junior catcher Mahaila Irvin and senior shortstop Micah James were named to the Class 2-A all-state team by the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association.
Irvin, who has verbally committed to play at Gardner-Webb, finished this season with a .457 batting average with a 11 homers and 28 RBI, James, who signed to play at Mars Hill College, batted .470 with five home runs and 26 runs batted in.
James and Irvin were also key contributors this season to establishing a new state record of 40 home runs hit by a team in a single season.
In the past two seasons, the “M&M Girls” have belted a combined 40 home runs and drove in 135 runs.
