CANTON — Ottie Mae Hodge Poston, 93, of the Cruso community, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville.

A native of Monroe County, Tennessee, she was a daughter of the late Robert Warren and Dorcas Murr Hodge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Way Poston; a son, George Arthur Poston; and three sisters, Sally Debety, Dossie Best and Minnie Brown. Mae loved attending Pisgah Freewill Baptist Church, to which she was the oldest member, with her daughter, Dorcas, and she also loved working in her garden. She was much loved in her community.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorcas Poston, of Canton, and Rhoda Poston Newman, of Rome, Georgia; one son, Dale Poston, and his wife, Wanda, of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Ashli Poston Kestner (Alan), of Savannah, Georgia, and Rebecca Hooper King (John), of Columbia, South Carolina; and four great-grandchildren, Kyleigh and Delaney Kestner, of Savannah, Georgia, and Jackson and Will King, of Columbia, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Revs. Jake Cagle and Jeff Heatherly officiating.  Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
