Maggie Valley chamber's ‘Chili Challenge’ is March 10

It’s time for a winter-warmer activity. A fun-filled chili cooking competition will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 10 at the Rendezvous Restaurant, 70 Soco Road, in Maggie Valley.

Participants can choose from four categories and enter one or enter them all. Each entry is $10. Anyone can enter. The categories are:

Chili Rustler — A Cowboy’s Chili (hearty: beans, beef, etc.);

Chili Laua — From the Islands: (sweeter: pineapple, chicken, white chili, etc.);

Chili Mex — Mexican Style: (spicy: rice, jalapenos, black beans, etc);

Chili Hog Wild —Biker Chili (no beef — must use deer, bear, pork, etc.).

Cooks must dress to match the category they enter, and will be judged on their chili quality and their costume. The public will be the judges for the competition.
