Maggie Valley recognized twice by TripAdvisor

MAGGIE VALLEY — Maggie Valley was recently named No. 2 in an article titled “12 Charming Small Towns to Escape it All,” which is listed on the FlipKey by TripAdvisor website.

The article says that “Maggie Valley has it all” and encourages prospective visitors to explore the town’s hiking trails and fine restaurants. The town was beat out by Townsend, Tennessee, which is a short drive from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

According FlipKey, Maggie’s position was based on industry research and traveler feedback in 2016.

TripAdvisor also Maggie Valley as No. 2 in its blog article “10 Affordable Ski Trips in the Eastern U.S.”

TripAdvisor Vacation Rentals analyzed the average cost for a weeklong stay in a two-bedroom property between January and March 2017, and found that Maggie Valley costs travelers an average of $1,008 per week.

Citing Cataloochee, North Carolina’s first ski slope, the article points to the area’s capital improvements during the most recent decade.

Maggie was beat by Blowing Rock, which was estimated to cost travelers $960 per week.
