Main Street Mile takes on the heat
The fifth annual Main Street Mile took off Friday evening, on what meteorologists were calling the hottest day of the year. The race is the Yarrington family's way of giving back to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Greenville after their daughter, Sophie, was diagnosed and received treatment for Torticollis, a twisted neck, and mile scoliosis at 6-months old.
The race had four heats — under 19, women's open, men's open and team event — and Main Street was lined with eager onlookers who cheered runners to the finish line, especially a 3-year old runner, the youngest participant in the race to date.
The after party featured music, food, craft beer and children's games and activities.
