CANTON — A Canton man was killed in a storage building collapse Saturday around 9 p.m. at 9 Mingus Hill Road.

Canton Police Chief Bryan Whitner said Miguel Angel Garcia Ortiz, 29, was helping some other employees with inventory in the storage building, which was used by Carolina Wholesale Bait to store worms. Part of the storage building used to be an apartment, Whitner said.

Ortiz was the only person inside the building when it collapsed, Whitner said.

The cause of the collapse is still under investigation and no one is being charged with any crime.
