Mann is Altrusa Student of the Month at Central Haywood
Taylor Lovay Mann, a senior at Central Haywood High School, is the Altrusa Student of the Month for October. Mann, the daughter of Lisa and Marty Mann of Canton, is completing her second year in a dual credit program with Haywood Community College in auto body and collision. She earned her first year certification last May and will complete the two-year certification next May.
“Taylor always listens well to instruction and pays attention to detail," said Mark Hicks, an auto teacher at HCC. "She doesn’t mind getting dirty in order to get the job done. She cares about quality workmanship and with these characteristics will always succeed. She is a joy to have in my class.”
Mann's plan for next year is to attend HCC full time and earn her associate degree. She is also very interested in horticulture and is completing her career pathway in high school in that subject this January. She hopes to use those skills at least in a part time career.
In addition to being dual enrolled at HCC, Mann also served as a school assistant during her junior year and is currently a member of the CHHS FFA club.
“Taylor was a great asset as a school assistant," said Donna Parris, lead teacher at CHHS. "Always willing to do whatever task is assigned, she learned how to operate office machines, filing and other helpful office skills well. The teachers at CHHS love Taylor — she is such a sweet young lady and always tries hard to do her best.”
Mann has also worked as sales clerk and cashier at Dairy Queen in Canton for almost two years.
