The March of Dimes' March for Babies was a big hit Saturday morning at the Bethea Welcome Center at Lake Junaluska. Several teams and individual walkers, runners and joggers gathered to hear Canton Alderman Zeb Smathers, Michaela Blanton-Lowe and Rep. Joe Sam Queen speak about the work of the March of Dimes to end premature birth, birth defects and infant mortality.

The march began around 10:30 a.m. and traveled around Lake Junaluska. With beautiful, albeit hot, weather and a good turnout, the event was a rousing success.

Breakfast and lunch were provided by McDonald's and Bojangle's. There were games, bounce houses and live music.
