Loving Aunt

WAYNESVILLE — Mrs. Margaret Hazel Francis Smith, 94 of Ratcliffe Cove Road, passed away Sept. 13, 2012, at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was born in Haywood County to the late Herbert F. and Earlie Susan Inman Francis.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Francis V. “Smokey” Smith; brothers, Robert Glenn and Grover Cleveland; a sister, Nora Mae and her husband, Roy Meador; sister-in-law, Thelma M. Francis; a niece and a nephew.

She spent a number of years in the earlier part of her life in Florida before returning to the mountains to live. She worked as a cashier for several grocers throughout her life.
