MAGGIE VALLEY  — Margaret Troutman Bradley, 92, of Maggie Valley passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2012, at The Homestead. She was born April 17, 1920, to the late Ivy and Annie Arrington Troutman. Margaret enjoyed reading, working puzzles, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and angels. She was a Southern Baptist who loved church and the Lord. Margaret was a member of Maggie First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dick; one daughter, Brenda Smith; three brothers, Harold, Frank, and Bug Troutman; three sisters, Mary Louise Troutman, Evelyn Owens and Julia Saunders.

Left to cherish her are one son, Eric (Connie), of Fines Creek; three daughters Tootsie Shiell, of Maggie Valley, Kathy Messer (Ray), of Edneyville, and Becky Green (Keith), of Maggie Valley; one sister, Ruth Long, of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday Nov. 2, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Revs. Chad Ellege, Tim Reeves, and Ricky Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ray Messer, Keith Green, Dean Smith, James Killian, Rick Stiles and Matt Prunty. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at the funeral home and at other times at the residence of Stephanie Green on Jonathon Creek.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Homestead Hospice at 127 Sunset Ridge Road, Clyde, NC  28721.

The family would like to offer a word of thanks to the doctors and staff at Medwest Haywood ER, the nurses and staff of the 4th and 5th floor at Medwest-Haywood, and to the nurses and staff at The Homestead.
