HORSE SHOE — Marguerite “Maggie” Dunn Trogdon, 93, of Horse Shoe, formerly of Maggie Valley, passed away June 15, 2014. She was born in Conway, South Carolina, to the late Peter and Nettie Lewis Dunn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thomas G. Trogdon, two brothers and one sister.

Maggie worked for the Pentagon during WWII, and after she moved to Waynesville taught at Jack and Jill Kindergarten. She was later a secretary for the town of Waynesville, but her most important role was that of mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Burnette and her husband, Richard, of Horse Shoe; sister, Eleanor Royals and her husband, Daggett, of Greenville, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Adell Dunn of Conway; granddaughters, Kristen Seelig and her husband, Sam, of Etowah, Megan Quinn and her husband, Jason, of Hendersonville; great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Seelig and Bailey Quinn.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice.
