Loving Mother, Grandmother
WAYNESVILLE — Marjorie Cogdill Millar, 81, of 831 Qualla Road, passed away Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at her residence.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mattie Lou Lyle Cogdill, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cogdill and one brother, Roy Cogdill Jr. Marjorie graduated from Waynesville Township High School and starred in basketball for the class of 1951 under Coach C.E. Weatherby. Marjorie managed the North Carolina Welcome Center and retired after 26 years of service, and was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. Marjorie enjoyed yard sales, UNC Chapel Hill basketball, and was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt.
Marjorie is survived by three sons, Troy Leatherwood and his wife, Angie, of Waynesville and their daughter, Erin Henson and husband, Charlie, of Atlanta, John Leatherwood and his son, Jake, of Waynesville, and Hank Millar, also of Waynesville; and two brothers, Earl “Red” Cogdill and his wife, Bina, of Waynesville, and Sam Cogdill and his wife, Carol, of Mooresville.
At Marjorie’s request, no services are planned.
