Mark A. Sluder
LEICESTER/GRAND MARIAS, MINNESOTA — Mark Anthony Sluder, 22, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, in Grand Marias, Minnesota.
Mark was born Nov. 28, 1991, at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the only son of Tony and Lynn Sluder, of Blaine, Washington, and the older brother to Jennifer Jones, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He had resided in Enka before moving with his family to Texas and was a graduate of Del Rio High School and a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduating from high school, he continued his education at Texas A & M University. He later relocated to Blaine, Washington, and pursued his degree at Washington State University, where he also joined the U.S. Army Reserves.
Mark was a May 13, 2014, graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, Georgia. He loved mountain biking with his dad at Whistler Mountain in Vancouver, Canada, and snowboarding whenever and wherever he had the chance. He was proud to own a new WRX Subaru and loved listening to music, especially Taylor Swift. He was a college student, a military member, a federal officer, a great brother, the perfect son, and just a good, kindhearted person who will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wayne Sluder.
In addition to his parents and sister, he is survived by his paternal grandmother, Katherine Sluder, of Leicester; uncle, Jeff Sluder, of Leicester, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Chestnut Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Bill Brown will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
